Epoxy floors are an amazing way to bring your loyalty to your sports team to life and in the first place, you come home to each day, your garage floor.

You have the big screen tv, the hat, the sweatshirt, the matching socks, and boxer shorts but do you have a custom sports epoxy floor?

An epoxy floor can protect your biggest investment, your home and the concrete in the garage is very important. From all the oil and grease that hits it daily to the hot tires and things being dropped on it, we have seen some concrete floors needing complete resurfacing and that is costly.

We want to catch this early and protect the concrete and there is no better way than with an epoxy coating and by adding a flair such as your favorite team's colors and possibly their logo embedded into the epoxy is something not many other people will have, the ultimate fan space

Here is the process

Once we work with you to select the exact look you want we will make a plan tailored to your floor, no two floors are the same as they all require different preparation and products. Typically the process is as followed.

• Remove the grease and oils from the floor
• Diamond grind the concrete to promote adhesion 
• Apply epoxy with flakes, full or partial 
• Apply clear coat
• Enjoy your floor 

How long will we need to wait to get back on the floor?

This depends on what products were used but typically 72 hours before you can put your vehicles back on the floor however we do also have products with a 24-hour turnover

There is a difference

What we have been seeing is lower pricing coming from other companies that is unbelievable and it certainly is, epoxy is measured in coating thickness and that is where we found they are saving, they are sacrificing the longevity of your floor to get you a lower price that sounds too good to be true, typically we have seen coating half the thickness of what we are using. This makes it hard to compare proposals, always ask how think of a floor you are receiving when it is dry.

How much will a floor like this cost?

The price of epoxy floors can vary greatly and it is mainly because of the prep needed or not needed.

Do you have a current coating on the floor? Even if you think there is nothing on it you could have a sealer on it, pour some water on the floor if it absorbs that is a good sign.

Was it trowled hard which closes the pores of the concrete and means we may need to grind which increases the cost slightly.

What are you using the garage for? Normal everyday use or will you be working on cars, welding or having heavy items on it? This all means we need to switch products.

Typically we have seen ricing in the $4-6 a sq ft area, maybe more but probably not less.

Add a logo? That also increases the cost of buying the vinyl as well as another added clear coat. 

Floors can be easily affordable and consider the money saved by not having to correct concrete issues down the road, also it will be easily washable now.

Others have wondered if the colors they picked will match or where they can start with both the house painting and paint colors.

Steps In Choosing The Right Colors For The Home

It is finally time to get into painting the interior parts of your home, and you are lost as to the colors to select from. Well, some of the steps that can help you out include:

• Take note of the rooms that are visible to each other

Here, you will have to walk all-around your home and take notes of the spaces that you can see from each of the rooms. Also, you can make use of a floor plan or probably a rough sketch to keep track of all this.

Furthermore, the adjoining rooms are included, although, with them, you may likely be able to see much farther like down the hall and even the kitchen.

These notes you are taking will be the ones to form the basis of the entire color plan for your house.

• Select the color for the largest and centrally located room

If you are stressed with the whole color picking, you can go for a soft and natural color for your main room. This makes selecting the colors to be used for painting easier and you know, you can never go wrong with white color.

• Paint the room you want to have a bold color 

For people who love colors a lot and actually have a particular one in mind when house painting, you can begin from a specific room you have in mind and this can be your bedroom.

Most of us love when our rooms are painted boldly and so, you can select from bold colors, and the next room can be painted with a softer color. However, two rooms next to one another can be painted with bold colors.

• Have a plan when selecting colors for an open space

When your house is visible all at once, you must pick colors that go together. Here, you can make use of either dark shades or tints that are lighter, from the same color. This is sure to work well for houses with open spaces.

For your halls and even landings, you can go for beige and even white colors but, if you are using soft neutrals or white for your rooms then the halls should be painted with richer colors.

Amato Painting Donates over $4000 to Animal Shelter

Amato Painting with the help of Gleco Paint and Benjamin Moore held our annual Paint It Forward event. Together we were able to donate well over $4000 in paint and labor to The Center For Animal Health and Welfare of Easton.

It was a great day with a big turnout from each company as we added new colors to areas of the facility that was in desperate need of new paint.

On our initial visit, we saw peeling paint on handrails, doors and door frames that had to be removed and properly painted for the traffic the facility gets each day while helping dogs, cats and other animals.

Jeff from Gleco was key in planning and making sure everything came out as planned even running back to the store to retrieve some other items we needed to complete this project in one day.

one of the owners from Gleco was on hand showing us he can paint as well as he can run a paint store and Benjamin Moore had a representative on had as well supplying us with breakfast and lunch which everyone appreciated.

Our painters and office staff helped out, painting the large handrail and fencing that leads to the area where all the dogs are while Ryan painted the bathroom a new fresh bright color.

Putting all of our other projects on hold for one day is no easy task, it takes understanding from our clients, the painters donating their time and everyone putting their phones down to help others.

But the feeling you get from doing this is a reward in itself.

"We hope we can continue this and even expand it in the coming years," said Ryan

It was highlighting the social media personalities in the painting industry. Ryan has always from the start put out as much information as he could to educate not only other contractors but potential clients. “It is better to know what to expect than to waste time” he says all the time.

By using his YouTube channel a few blogs and many other social media outlets we have been able to reduce the wasted hours spent on going out to estimates that just don’t go anywhere, saving clients time away from work or having to call other contractors because we just were or were not a good fit for each other.

Painting your home whether you use a professional or do it yourself can be much easier with a few tips from the pros. The reason the pros are the pros is from the experience they gain from job to job.

Let's face it nothing is perfect on any job and they are all unique to themselves, one paint may not work the same on each project, one brush may not work with different paints so let's review some tips we have gained in our painting experience.

• Buy the best paint possible, here is one area not to "cheap out" when you purchase that $20 gallon of paint and think you saved money but now have to put three, four coats of paint on you have just wasted more of your own time you could have been spending with your family.
• Cheap paint also doesn't clean easily and can be easily marked, in some cases just by putting your finger on the wall. Expect to pay at least $45 a gallon
• Use a quality caulk when working on any trim such as baseboard, door and window trim. A less expensive caulk will shrink which will result in cracks and gaps. Expect to pay at least $5 a tube for a quality caulk
•  Put two coats on the wall. It just looks better, don't skip that second coat, your wall will thank you, it will be easier to clean, look more uniform and the color truer
• Buy quality roller covers and tape. If you listen to one tip this is it, a cheap roller cover may release fuzz on your brand new wall, take you longer to paint the wall and reduce the quality of the finish
• When working on hardwood floors put brown paper under the dropcloth closest to the wall your painting (you will thank me later) It will catch all the paint that will get by the dropcloth, remember do not tape anything to the hardwood floor, tape to the baseboard in case the finish of your floor is not stable. We have seen floor finishes come up with tape and it's not the fault of the tape.
• Roll out of a five-gallon bucket, it is so much easier than a pan on the floor. You will need a roller grid, a quality handle, sleeve and a poll that retracts and extends
• Sand the walls between coats, I can't stress this one enough, if your not a pro you may not see all the imperfections on your walls, simply use a sanding pole and sandpaper and sand the wall after your first coat. It will make your finish much better

These are just some of the tips we have learned over the years, by learning from experience and mistakes we can share some of this knowledge with you if you decide to paint your home yourself use them to make things easier, better and for a pro like job.

Everyone always thinks getting estimates is doing the right thing and in some cases, it may be. But how can you as a homeowner with no construction experience know what you're looking at?

If three estimators show up I would almost guess you will get three different prices, if they cannot figure it out how can you?

The simple answer is you can't and measuring each company by the price they give is the number one issue. Comparing companies by the price they give is not telling the whole story.

There are so many things un said you need to know about and that is why we say we don't have competitors based off of that.

• Does the company offer a training program to the people doing the work?
• Do they have a company orientation program?
• Do they offer their employees any benefits at all?
• Are their employees really employees or subcontractors coming and going.
• Do they offer a career to their employees?
• Do they have the backing of their manufactures?

These are just a few of the things you should be looking for, anyone can throw out low prices or even high prices, the price alone tells you nothing at all on how that project will go.

Did they answer the phone and return calls in a timely fashion? If they don't do that now when they are trying to win your business how will that go once they have it?

Did they introduce you tot he foreman who will be doing your work? Do they have a supervisor at all?

These are all questions you should ask yourself when searching for a company to do any work in or around your home. You hear so many scary contractor stories and invariably someone didn't do their homework on the contractor. Not all contractors are bad at all. By doing a bit of work on your end and interviewing the estimator you can learn a lot about their company and how your project will be managed, because not only are you paying for a service you are paying for someone to manage it as well.

What to expect when hiring an interior painting company.

When you decide to paint your home the first thought that crosses your mind may be the price.

That may be a consideration but it should not be your first. There will always be a lower priced company and someone willing to do a job cheaper but at what cost? The quality, cheaper products, labor or uninsured painters is a common problem in the painting and construction industry.

The first thing to decide before anyone shows up is what exactly do we want to be painted, what is our timeframe for this work and what do we expect. Without the client knows exactly what they want and expect it will be impossible for any painting contractor to be able to deliver off of a guess.

No two jobs are the same, companies will prepare surfaces differently and the idea of a properly painted surface and the completed project may vary greatly from company to company and client to client. Using the Painting and Decorating Contractors Of America standards is something every client should make sure their contractor is using. These are a list of standards that take the confusion out of how and why things are done or not done.

We receive a lot of calls asking for pricing over the phone, the reason that is sometimes impossible is there are variables to every project that may affect the cost such as.

•  Timeframe: if you need a project done tomorrow and the company is booked out for weeks there may be a fee to rearrange everything to suit your schedule.
• Preparation: The amount of preparation that is needed or requested. 
• Access: Access to the work area and time of day
• Specialty: Any special applications will cost more as it takes trained staff to apply them and they have spent many hours training to do this
• Quality of paint being used can vary from $25 a gallon to $85 a gallon

As you can see no two projects are the same and we love to be able to give solutions and the proper scope of work needed for each project.

We look at each project as a new relationship, it takes the contractor and client working together to make sure it turns out as expected, this takes great communication on both sides throughout the entire process.
